The Story

You might be familiar with the American athlete thanks to his looney Ferrari 458 V8-swapped Toyota GT86 drift car, but the time has come for us to discuss his A90-generation Supra build, which is currently in the making.

The Engine

  • The engine in question is known as the GV4 V10 and is naturally aspirated, displaces 4.0 liters, and was used in a number of vehicles that competed in the Sports Racing World Cup in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Judd has been building the same basic V10 for more than three decades and some of them have been used in F1. The engine weighs just 145 kg (320 lbs), revs to 11,000 rpm, develops 730 hp, and can go around 2,000 miles (3,200 km) between rebuilds.
  • Much more than the engine was changed in creating this Toyota Supra drift car. All of the standard body panels have been removed and been replaced with lightweight carbon fiber parts. The car’s tracks have also been widened and the suspension and steering systems have been overhauled. Coupled to the Judd V10 is a Hollinger sequential transmission driving the rear wheels.
